First time teen mom

Hi. My name is christy.i had my first baby when i was 16 years old. Like all first time mothers I didnt know what to expect after I gave birth. I didnt know what to do. I didn't have anyone to turn to or anyone who already had the experience with babies, so I done the only thing I could do. I tried new things.I didn't have money,and I had to handle all the expenses and problems by myself. For example diapers. When I was at the hospital they give me baby Pampers diapers to use. I really liked the diapers because of the blue line that appeared when it was time to change it. This was a shocker! To me the only problem was that they were to expensive. Because of this I began my baby out on Huggies diapers. I thought that these diapers were great until my son pooped through them. I let this happen about 30 more times until I got tired of it. When it was time to go buy diapers again I began to browse through all the brands possible looking at the prices. I looked at the Pampers remembering why I never decided to get them. Come to find out they were only a dollar more than Huggies.So, i decided to try them again and now i use Pampers even today! I really recommend Pampers to everyone, because they are so great and I believe that they are the best brand of diapers anyone could ever buy. The good thing about them to me is that I only have to change my son about every 4 hours unless he poops, they save space in a little diaperbag or carrying purse, they are cheap and it's one of the famous brands that everyone heard before.

My other problem was the wipes. I started using huggies wipes. The price was a factor in my decision. I also looked into the quality of the wipes. So many brands of wipes, that i found one that fit in my criteria: Walmart's brand, Parents choice. I chose the sensitive ones, because the lack of aroma, and the fact that they are sensitive. There are too many brands to try like Huggies, Pampers, Johnson's baby, which i liked and i also tried with excellent results, but when the price and quality comes, i choose parent's choice.

Another thing that first time mothers have to worry about is the baby's formula (if you don't breastfeed). What type of milk is the going to drink? I first tried Similac, because it caught my attention to be interesting. It seemed to sooth the baby fine at first. Then a couple of days later then my son began to get hicups alot. That didnt bother me because all baby's will get hicups. Then he began to spit up alot. I thought that it would be fine but it began to happen frequently. I decided that I was going to change formula and I began to try Enfamil. They seemed to have so many soothing types like ones to help your baby with sleeping better, gas, frequent spit ups, digestion, etc. This brand can be used for your baby up until he gets 18 months! There is just so many different kinds to try. I rate this the number one formula there could ever be. I really enjoy this brand because I haven't had any more problems with my son that couldnt be fixed with this.

When i went to buy baby bottles, i found a lot of brands, shapes, colors and prices. i wanted to buy the cheapest one, but i found some bottles saying something abot "bpa free". i didn't know anything about "bpa" or what it was, so i went to research more about it. Bpa (BisPhenol A) is a chemical block that is used primarily to make policarbonate plastic (Baby bottles, DVD's, Cd's), a lightweight, high-performance plastic that has a unique balance of toughness, optical clarity, high heat resistance, and excelent electrical resistance. Because these attributes, policarbonate is used in a wide variety of common products including digital media reusable food and drink containers (including baby bottles) (source).When a baby bottle is heated, it can leach bpa, which can cause development problems, cancer, diabetes, obesity, attention-deficit problems. It's also a sustance that can make little boys to be less masculine and opens the chance that little girls will go on develop breast cancer.Many moms are not aware of this, and as a first time mother, i was scared of something like this. I researched and foun out that there is many options for baby bottles free of BPA. Also, glass bottles are safe bottles (wich i use them), but too expensive.

One thing that i will never forget is when my baby got diaper rash. I cried when my baby cried, because of the diaper rash. I searched for diaper rash oinments, and the one that i chose for my baby's relief was boudreaux butt paste. It has a mix of ingredients that heal the baby's wounded skin fast. Most newborn babies are sensitive to zinc oxide (which produces the drying effect on skin) and this oinment has the balanced mix of this ingredient. For me was hard to chose between the leading brands and the price, but this oinment has quality for the price.
